The Bar Glacier and the bookshop
Open onto Rue de Chantepoulet and directly connected to the cinema foyer, the Bar-Glacier is a place in its own right. Designed by architect Marc J. Saugey and open since 1952, it combines an intimate atmosphere, iconic design, a welcoming bar, and Italian-style soft ice cream. Also accessible from the covered passageway, it connects seamlessly with the Bookshop–Boutique and the Cockpit space.
During the day, it’s a place to settle in with a latte, a hot chocolate, a slice of cake, or an ice cream. As evening falls, the mood shifts: the Bar-Glacier turns into a wine bar, ideal for meeting friends before a film, extending the evening after a performance, or putting the world to rights.
Just next door, the Bookshop–Boutique extends the cinema experience. Visitors will find a curated selection of cinema books and reference works, graphic novels, as well as objects, posters, and creations—branded or not—reflecting the spirit of the Plaza. A place to browse, leaf through pages, find a gift… or leave with a souvenir.
